Advice for your first Tattoo

Getting your first tattoo is an awesome experience! In addition to reading the sections on what to look for and sanitation on our web site, here are a few pointers.

Call ahead and make an appointment. If you're getting custom work done, find out what the policy is (lead time, reference materials, etc.) so you can be prepared and ready to get work!

Eat a good meal a couple of hours beforehand, and try to get a good night's sleep before, too. You want to be feeling your best for the procedure.

Don't get a tattoo under the influence of alcohol or anything else. Any reputable artist will turn you away if they know you're loaded. Additionally, alcohol can make some people bleed more, and this can make it harder for the artist to see what they are doing.

Bring your photo ID. Most good shops require a photo ID for their records, and to verify your age. Remember, 18 and over!

Relax! Enjoy! Remember to breathe when it hurts. Yes, it can hurt- how much and how often depends on you, your pain tolerance, and the placement of the tattoo. Just keep breathing, sit still (very important!) and think of how much you're going to love your new tattoo!!!

sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't...!
